Have you ever wondered why programs and services are so important for single parents?
Well just in case you want to know...
In 2010 there were over 522,000 single parent families in Illinois.
About 78% of this population are mothers and 22% are fathers, raising children under the age of 18.
In 2015 it was reported by the National Center for Children in Poverty, that 54% of children living in single parent households, in Illinois, are living in poverty.
American Association of Single Parents, Inc. felt it was our duty to develop techniques and strategies to aid single parents in addressing issues related to their financial well-being. This is all done by facilitating a series of financial literacy workshops to single parent participants.
Under the leadership of our founder, Dr. Nicole Scott, the Live Financially Healthy workshop series was born.
Live Financially Healthy workshops were designed to motivate single parents to be more savvy with their dollars. Also to develop a spending and savings plan with limited income.
